LAKE TYRRELL
35 Minute drive from Culgoa
Lake Tyrrell is a salt lake located approximately 7km's north of the small township of Sea Lake in rural Victoria. The lake itself covers 21,860 hectares and is host to a number of Australian native animals including kangaroos, emus and numerous other species of birds and wildlife.
Lake Tyrrell offers visitors magnificent viewing of sunrise, sunset, and stars as the shallow water becomes mirror-like when the winds drop. The lake itself is known to change colour as the saline levels increase and an algae grows.
SPANNER MAN
1 Hours drive from Culgoa
John Piccoli welds giant sculptures out of spanners — earning him the nickname the Spanner Man.
His garden is littered with dozens of larger-than-life sculptures of mermaids, marlin, and even a full horse and wagon.
It all started when he leased out his mixed grain and stock farm after running it for three decades, from his wheelchair.
SILO MURALS
1 h 15 min drive from Culgoa
The scene depicts Brim residents – three men and one woman.
Brim Active Community Group’s Shane Wardle said the community thought they were pretty lucky to have the mural in their town.
“It looks amazing, everyone is so happy,” he said.
“The standard of work is unbelievable.”
Van Helten, from Brisbane, used a cherrypicker for three weeks to create the mural with spray paint and acrylic house paint.
